"Science is a way of investigating, understanding and explaining our natural world, physical world and wider universe" (NZ Curriculum).
Students need to lean what science is and how scientists work as well as scientific knowledge.
Science programmes at Eastern Hutt aim to provide hands on investigations that will develop students' curiosity of the world around us and an interest in science.

A young scientist
Levi (Year 1) has been learning about sound at school. So he went home and did some science investigations of his own.
He found out that sound vibrations travel along a string and you can make a simple telephone out of paper cups and string.
Eastern Hutt school is a School Gen school which means we care about our environment and have solar panels on our roof to make electricity from the sun.
Have a look at how much electricity we are producing by looking at our school on the School Gen website.
