"Science is a way of investigating, understanding and explaining our natural world, physical world and wider universe" (NZ Curriculum).

Students need to lean what science is and how scientists work as well as scientific knowledge.

Science programmes at Eastern Hutt aim to provide hands on investigations that will develop students' curiosity of the world around us and an interest in science.

Science in the Staffroom
Today we had our first PD session about science for 2011.  The theme was our science curriculum.

The teachers had fun taking photos to represent the different knowledge strands.   This is our slideshow.

Science Takeaway
At each science staff meeting teachers get to take part in a science investigation and then take the activity away to try with their classes if they want.  Today's investigation was Tie Dyed Milk.  Here are the instructions.
